Ancillary task: Digipak - Cover
The cover of my digipak is to the left. I wanted the cover to be very busy and eye catching. This is why I decided to use the images I did. I wanted something that was going to highly appeal to my audience. I chose to create an image which told the story of the music video. This is why I had the couple in the car driving towards what looks to be Hollywood. This symbolizes that they are famous. The fact that the outline of the pills are falling from the sky, as well as the actual pills, shows that this is the man is driving the woman into. All aspects of the cover I have considered representation and meaning. Even the roses link to the roses in the video. In my feedback for my digipak, the audience said that I needed the artists name and the name of the album. I have now added them both and am very pleased with the outcome.

Ancillary task - Advert -Rating

One of the last features that I needed to include on my advert was a rating from a music magazine. I researched into this and found out that many ratings for adverts of albums. rate the album as well. Positive reviews on albums make the audience more interested.
- To create a rating I googled 'star ratings'. This came up with many images of different star ratings.
- I wanted one which look retro/vintage, so when i imported the stars into editing, I used a rubber tool with a low hardness to make holes in the stars.
- I then searched old cinema fonts on the web and selected the 'NME' letters from the templates.
- Once taken into photoshop, I was able to use the same rubber effect to make the letters look vintage.
Ancillary task - Advertisement - Editing
I didn't capture much of the editing in my advertisement. However, in the video I capture the placement of the layers. I also used the rubber tool to remove the image in the windscreen. Before doing this, it wasn't realistic as what was in the windscreen wasn't what was in front of them. When rubbing out the image, the layer below was revealed. This created the appearance of them driving on a road. I also used contrast and brightness a lot o the background to make it more realistic. The layer with the Hollywood sign I made lighter and the others darker. I also changed the appearance of the car several times to make it appear more natural. This was all done using Photoshop. The next thing I will be doing to the poster is adding titles and perhaps other objects in the poster. I think that the idea which I have gone for is very retro and that the narrative is strongly portrayed. It also has a strong link to my digipak.
Ancillary Task- Digipak- Editing- Inside
The ideas I initially had for the inside of the digipak was just of the title. However, I decided that I wanted to go for something including shots from my video as I do think they are very powerful. I have gone back and forth deciding whether I wanted to include these images in the digipak. This is where I came up with the idea for negatives of the video. This allowed stages of the video and narrative to be introduced premature. In the video to the left, I have videoed myself blurring the chosen images after placing into photoshop. They were also placed onto of a film, to look as though they are negatives. The blurring tool helped to make the edges look unsharpened and natural.
Ancillary task- Digipak- Editing cover
After taking the images I took into photoshop, I edited out the background and outlined the back of the car, along with the outlining the two in the car. Originally, I intended on using the the picture of the couple on the front and the car boot on the back. However, when looking at the two images I thought that they would work well together. Therefore I copied the image of the two onto the boot of the car, so that it looked as though it was one image. In the video beside, I place the two images on top of each other, and then use the smudging tool to blend the two layers together. This ensured that the image look like one and not like they had been placed together. Also the smudging tool allowed the rough edges from cutting the image, be smoothed out.

Ancillary task - Editing
When planning my digipak, I decided that I wanted to tell a story through it; the story of the music video. This needed to include the drug side of the video. To do this I decide to use an outline of some pills to create a subtle layer in the digipak. This is because I didn't want to drug use idea to dominate the cover. I used Adobe illustrator to outline a picture of some pills I found on the internet. This was quite time consuming, however I was very pleased with the outcome. The pill outline will be used over the top of the sky to represent the pills falling into their future; they're driving into their future. I am not sure whether the pills are too subtle, but i will discover this as I start to put the digipak together.

Ancillary task - magazine advertisement; planning
Like the digipak, it shows the couple driving into chaos. They are seen in a car, which is shown in the music video, drying to 'Hollywood'. However, dimming the glamour of Hollywood is the layers of drugs and mess which overlays the view. On top of this is the titles. I think that the titles hold a big message as the show that the whole thing is being documented and caught on camera. This is firstly because the couple are famous and the collapsing of there relationship is in the public eye, but also because the video itself is very handheld and documented in a vhs/home video style.
